One week ago, Manchester City looked destined to lock up the 2017-18 Premier League title in emphatic fashion, holding a 2-0 first half lead over rival United. Then came a choke-job for the ages in the derby match and now City are left still looking to lock up the league win. Their tests at the end of the season, however, don’t get any easier as they now travel to Wembley to face a Tottenham side on Saturday, April 14.
It truly was a heartbreaking result for Manchester City, though the cardiovascular damage was hardly irreparable. They still sit 13 points clear of United atop the Premier League table with six matches left to play as they head into this fixture with Spurs. With that said, Pep Guardiola will need Raheem Sterling, Kevin De Bruyne and company to tighten up to feel a bit more comfortable about securing the league title.
Tottenham are relatively comfortable in terms of earning a Champions League spot for next season, sitting at fourth in the table and 10 points clear of Chelsea in fifth. However, as the Harry Kane and Dele Alli led side head down the stretch, they are tied with Liverpool in points and are behind only on goal differential. They would certainly love to push ahead for a third — or maybe even second — place finish in the league table. Three points against City would be critical for that plight.
Details for Saturday’s match are below:
Date: Saturday, April 14
Start Time: 2:45 p.m. ET
Location: London, England
Stadium: Wembley Stadium
TV Info: NBCSN
Live Stream: NBC Sports Live, FuboTV
The last time that these two clubs met in a Premier League clash was back in December. That was a rout in favor of Manchester City, Tottenham losing 4-1 in that contest. City would love to replicate that result and be able to lock up the league title after failing to do so last week. However, Spurs will most certainly not just lie down and let them take it on their watch.
